Aqualyx® is a micro gelatinous, hydrous solution that contains the active ingredient deoxycholic acid. Simply put, it’s a water-based treatment that destroys fat cells when it comes into contact with them.

Under local anaesthetic, Aqualyx® is injected into the fatty parts of the body you would like treated. The entire process should take no more than 30 minutes.

This is reliant on the amount of fat in the sites that need to be treated. Depending on the individual, a double chin can typically be removed in one session, whereas abdominal areas may need2-4 treatments.

Before the actual treatment, you will undergo an examination to establish the number of treatment sessions required to successfully treat each area.

Treatment sessions are usually spaced some 6-8 weeks apart, but everyone is different so this is just a guide.

Aqualyx® is injected into sites on the body containing fat. It then locates the fat cells, docks with them, and induces the fat cells’ building blocks to detach from one another. The body’s own macrophages subsequently remove the triglycerides and fatty acids, which are eventually excreted through your lymphatic system.

The fat cells that have been eliminated will not regrowbut, for best results, we advise you to try and lose or maintain weight between sessions, rather than gaining any.

Excluding the tissues around the eyes, this procedure can be used on practically any fatty part of the body. However, as with our other treatments, you’ll need to have a consultation with a specialist member of our expert team first.
